CKPower fulfills the dreams of Mae Mu Nai youths through Hinghoi Project – CSR initiative in which giving is receiving.

On January 22, 2019, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graced the inauguration of Ban Maemu Nai Border Patrol Police Learning Center, in Ban Mae Na Chon Sub-district, Mae Chaem District, Chiang Mai, under the sponsorship of CK Power Public Company Limited, marking an occasion of great joy and gratitude for the company’s executives and employees. This was made possible by the collaborative effort of over 200 CKPower executives and employees, known collectively as the Hinghoi Team, who had been working together for over a year. The new building is set to bring learning opportunities to children in remote areas. Thanawat Trivisvavet, Managing Director of CKPower and the initiator of the Hinghoi Project, stated that the endeavor came about because the company’s employees and executives agreed that their engineering expertise could be put to good use to help communities, especially people in remote areas, and that this project would be an excellent and sustainable way to repay society. While the Hinghoi Project started out with only a handful of members, the number of participants soared past 200 in the third year thanks to the word of mouth of the executives and employees who took part in the undertaking and described their wonderful experience. The construction of the learning center, which took over a year to complete, started in 2018, when the team went to the site to survey the area and collecte data on the needs of the teachers and students, so that the building could be designed to suit the needs and the site. After the team met to discuss the insights they had obtained and made plans for the operation, volunteer teams were dispatched to the area to carry out four missions, which corresponded to the four phases of the project.

According to Thanawat, each mission came with its own unique challenges. In the first phase, a team of engineers and architects went to the site and in collaboration with Border Patrol Police Sub-division 33 from Princess Mother Military Camp, Chiang Mai Provincial Administrative Organization, and the Mae Sa-nga River Management Unit. to prepared the landscape for construction and to plant vetiver grass to prevent runoff and soil erosion. Innovations were applied to the design of learning center to ensure energy efficiency. For example, the building was oriented so that wind can flow directly into the classrooms to keep them well-ventilated and obviating the need for electric fans, and transparent roofs were incorporated to allow natural light into the classrooms and reduce energy consumption. In addition, solar-powered street lights, with backup batteries, were also installed to enhance the safety of commuters on campus. Despite all the obstacles and challenges throughout the course of over a year, all the executives and employees of CKPower were united in their efforts and successfully brought the project to fruition. The Managing Director said that one of the aims of this project, which was part of the Hinghoi Project, was to bring together CKPower personnel and bring out the best in them. Through the hardship of working together in a remote area where there was a lack of facilities in almost every aspect of living, the executives and employees were given an opportunity to spend time together and to learn more about and understand each other better. When going back to work these feelings would create a happy working environment and enhance their performance. Furthermore, this collaborative effort was an act of altruism, which is part of the DNA of CKPower. “The most obvious change that I can see is a working environment where everyone smiles at each other more. This is probably because everyone is now a Hinghoi volunteer at heart.”
