CKPower Honored with Two AREA Awards for Fifth Consecutive Year
CKPower’s “Hinghoi” Project Expands Renewable Energy Access to Communities, Creating Income and Reducing Waste
Bangkok, July 23, 2026 – CK Power Public Company Limited (SET: CKP), one of the region’s largest producers of electricity from renewables with one of the lowest carbon footprints, has been honoured with two awards at the Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards (AREA) 2026 for the fifth consecutive year. The recognition reflects the success of the Company’s social and environmental initiatives under its Hinghoi Project, which leverages CKPower’s expertise in renewable energy and resource management to improve quality of life, create economic opportunities, and strengthen communities surrounding its power plants.
The awards comprise the Social Empowerment Award for the Hinghoi: Renewable Electricity for Better Quality of Life Project and the Hinghoi: Co-creating Innovations to Enhance Opportunities for Communities Project, as well as the Green Leadership Award for the Waste to Value – Hinghoi: Preserving and Restoring Natural Resources Project. The AREA Awards are organized by Enterprise Asia, a leading organization that promotes responsible entrepreneurship and sustainable development across Asia.
Mr. Thanawat Trivisvavet, Managing Director of CKPower, stated that CKPower believes that improving the quality of life of communities and society is a key foundation for sustainable development. The Hinghoi Project was therefore developed to apply the Company’s expertise, particularly in renewable energy, engineering, and environmental management, to create benefits for communities surrounding its power plants and remote areas by enhancing access to clean energy, enhancing livelihoods and supporting natural resource conservation.
The Hinghoi Project is implemented under CKPower’s CSR Strategy Framework 2022–2026, focusing on three key areas: Hinghoi: Renewable Electricity for Better Quality of Life; Hinghoi: Preserving and Restoring Natural Resources; and Hinghoi: Co-creating Innovations to Enhance Opportunities for Communities. Sustainability working teams at each power plant play a key role in co-developing projects with local communities to ensure that the initiatives address actual local needs and deliver measurable outcomes.
The awards received are as follows:
- Social Empowerment Award – Hinghoi: Renewable Electricity for Better Quality of Life. The project was developed by CKPower to improve access to renewable energy and clean water for communities surrounding its power plants and in remote areas across Thailand and the Lao PDR, helping to enhance their quality of life. To date, the initiative has implemented 46 projects by applying the Company's engineering expertise to develop practical solutions, including solar-powered water treatment systems, solar street lighting, renewable energy knowledge transfer, and community learning centers.
To date, the project has expanded cumulative renewable energy access by more than 163,100 watts and provided renewable energy education to over 16,000 children and young people, with a target of reaching 20,000 by the end of this year. The initiative has also engaged a cumulative total of 2,635 employee volunteers. Meanwhile, the Hinghoi: Co-creating Innovations to Enhance Opportunities for Communities Project has developed six community products under the One Powerplant One Product (OPOP) initiative, generating more than THB 2.8 million in income for local communities. - Green Leadership Award – Hinghoi: Preserving and Restoring Natural Resources. The project was developed to support natural resource conservation and environmental management through the Waste to Value initiative at the Xayaburi Hydroelectric Power Plant. The initiative transforms food waste from the power plant's cafeteria into soil amendments for agricultural use through collaboration among employees, various departments within the power plant, and communities surrounding the power plant. Between 2023 and 2025, the project processed more than 31,333 kilograms of organic waste, producing over 8,472 kilograms of soil conditioners. It also helped avoid approximately 10,000 kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalent (kgCO₂e) in cumulative greenhouse gas emissions, reduced waste sent for incineration by 20%, and generated income while supporting sustainable agriculture for local communities.
In addition, CKPower continues to advance its Grow Together and Green Power Plant initiatives by expanding cumulative green spaces to 16.16 rai both within and beyond its power plants. The Company has also provided environmental conservation education to more than 10,600 children and young people, exceeding its target, and remains committed to expanding these initiatives in partnership with local communities.
