CKPower Honored with the Prestigious CSR-DIW Continuous Award 2023 for the Second Year in a Row








CKPower, a leading electricity producer from renewables with one of the lowest carbon footprints, proudly announces that its subsidiary, Bang Pa-In Cogeneration Limited (BIC), has recently been conferred with the “CSR-DIW Continuous Award for 2023” by the Department of Industrial Works, Ministry of Industry. This prestigious accolade reflects the company's unwavering commitment to sustainability, community, society, and environmental care. Furthermore, CKPower promotes employee involvement in nurturing the community, ensuring holistic adherence to industrial standards for sustained societal responsibility.Mr. Decha Chantawee, Plant Manager, accepted the award on behalf of the company from Mr. Suphakit Bunsiri, Deputy Director General of the Department of Industrial Works, Ministry of Industry, during a ceremony at the Royal Jubilee Ballroom, Challenger Building, IMPACT, Muang Thong Thani, Nonthaburi.
This marks the second consecutive year that BIC has been recognized with this award, reflecting the company's dedication to its sustainability strategy "C-K-P", encompassing environmental, social, community, corporate governance, and economic dimensions. Specifically, "C" represents Clean Electricity, emphasizing environmentally friendly electricity generation, "K" denotes Kind Neighbour, stressing the sustainable care for human rights, society, and community, and "P" stands for Partnership for Life, symbolizing fair management and business resilience, with a pledge to care for the community, society, and the ecosystem surrounding the power plant.
BIC showcases its prowess in energy capabilities with the development of the Clear Water Beautiful Canal Project. Four solar powered water turbines have been installed in Khlong Jik, Bang Pa-In District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, to enhance water quality and reutilization for community. Plans are in place to expand this project to Khlong Phuttha and other canals in 2024.
In addition, the company is focused on resource conservation. Employee-driven innovative projects targeted at enhancing power generation processes and reducing resource consumption emphasize energy savings. In 2022, innovations by the staff resulted in energy savings of 5,980 MWh, a reduction of 2,762,655 kgCO2e in greenhouse gas emissions, water resource savings of over 54 million liters, and a goal set for continuous carbon footprint reduction in power production in the future.
The CSR-DIW (Corporate Social Responsibility, Department of Industrial Works) award is a benchmark set by the Department of Industrial Works, adapted from ISO 26000 to resonate with the Thai context. It provides guidelines for industrial operators to act responsibly across all dimensions, encompassing seven core areas: organizational governance, human rights, labor practices, environment, fair operational practices, consumer issues, and community involvement and development.
