CK Power Public Company Limited (CKPower) or "CKP" in SET, producer and distributor of electricity from various clean energy sources, has established the Hinghoi Project to develop communities surrounding its power plants as a corporate social responsibility initiative to help sustainably solve the problem of scarcity in communities within the vicinity of power plants in which CKPower Group is a stakeholder. This year, the Company has conducted the Hinghoi Project for the fifth consecutive year as an endeavor to develop communities surrounding affiliated power plants both in Lao People's Democratic Republic and Thailand, namely Nam Ngum 2 Hydroelectric Power Plant in Lao PDR and Bangpa-in Cogeneration Power Plant in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya.

For the communities around Nam Ngum 2 Hydroelectric Power Plant in Lao PDR, the Company has supported the drilling of community water wells in order to alleviate the shortage of water for utility and consumption by locals within the communities.

CKPower has also contributed to the renovation of the Baan Poan Pa Center for Peace, which functions as the community jail and consistently conducted CSR activities for communities surrounding the power plant, and promoted educational development and the expansion of educational opportunities by deploying engineers from CKPower Group to survey Hin Hua Suea Nursery School in Chai Somboon, located near the power plant, and draw up plans for the improvement of the school' buildings, toilets, and drinking water system. This project is expected to be completed within the first half of 2021.

In Thailand, CKPower has collaborated with Bangpa-in Cogeneration Company Limited and subsidiaries to improve the facilities of Wat Kudi Prasit School in Tambon Cha Maep, Wang Noi District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, which is located within five kilometers of CKPower’s power plant and one of nine Tambons for which Bangpa-in Cogeneration Company Limited conducts yearly community service in order to aid and foster a relationship with the community. The projects that the Company has undertaken in the service of the school consist of landscaping the garden, the flag pole, and the playground; landscaping the Science Garden to promote integrated education and learning through activities; pouring concrete flooring in the young children’s playground to replace the worn-down original flooring; painting the playground in order to foster child development; painting two school buildings, renovating and improving terraces and hallways; converting an old pavilion into a general-use space for reading; along with providing scholarship funds and sports clothing and equipment to students.

Mr. Thanawat Trivisvavet, Managing Director of CKPower, states that "the CSR activities undertaken in 2020 were similar to those of previous years in that they involved the participation of the company’s personnel who are skilled and knowledgeable in various areas in conducting sustainable CSR activities. However, what sets this year’s initiatives apart from the rest is the application of the “CAWTA” outward design thinking approach, which integrates the Company’s five core values COACHING AND LEARNING through mentorship, ACCOUNTABILITY to doing the best of one’s ability and taking ownership of results, WORK ETHICS that put "right" before "right now," TEAMWORK that is more than the sum of its parts, and dynamic, ever-evolving ADAPTABILITY into its CSR activities.

This began with the collaborative effort to design and develop the landscaping, during which every participant was empowered to fully think outside the box in order to create and innovate the CSR activities of their dreams, and during the execution of the project, everyone had the same goal in mind and was able to apply the company’s values in order to successfully carry out the activity, resulting in a collaborative spirit that led to the achievement of the goals of this year's program.

The Hinghoi Project is only one of many CSR programs that CKPower Group consistently undertakes for the community, which is indicative of the Company’s commitment to sustainable business practices along with the generation of stable returns in the long term. The success of this endeavor has led the Stock Exchange of Thailand to include CKPower among the Thailand Sustainability Investment (THSI) 2020 list, for which CKPower was recently awarded an honorary plaque at the SET SUSTAINABILITY AWARDS 2020 as an organization that places importance on sustainability and environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) practices. The award is a testament to the fact that CKPower’s business conduct is guided by good ethics and responsibility to society and stakeholders, which are core values that all CKPower personnel and executives believe in and abide by."
